Delete your account

Bab Ul Hawaij Islamic Centre · BHIC app

You can close your BHIC account at any time, and you do not need to ask anyone’s permission or give a reason.

In the app

This is the quickest way, and it takes effect immediately.

  1. Open the BHIC app and go to the Community page.
  2. Tap the account icon in the top corner.
  3. Choose Delete Account.
  4. Read the confirmation and tap Delete Account again.

If you cannot get into the app

Email info@bhic.ca from the address you signed up with, and ask us to delete your account. We will do it and write back to confirm. If you no longer have that email address, tell us the name and phone number on the account instead so we can find it.

What is deleted

What stays, and why

Community events you posted stay on the calendar under your name. They were public announcements, other people may have planned around them, and an event with no organiser named is of little use to anyone deciding whether to attend. Your phone number is removed from them.

If you want an event taken down as well, email info@bhic.ca and say which one.

Where a volunteer held a staff account, the record of changes they made to the calendar is kept for a limited period as an accountability measure for the centre, and is then deleted automatically.

How long it takes

Deleting from inside the app is immediate. An emailed request is handled as soon as we reasonably can, normally within a few days.

One exception

If you are the only administrator of the Community system, the app will ask you to make someone else an administrator first. Otherwise nobody would be left who could manage the community calendar, and that cannot be undone from inside the app. Once a second administrator exists, you can delete your account normally.
